Situation
Hundreds of thousands of people across the country have no place to call home and each of their stories is different. Homelessness is more than rough sleeping. Over 100,000 UK households currently live in unsuitable accommodation, including unsafe, unsanitary or overcrowded living, lack of basic amenities, mould, or hazardous conditions. Yet, 70% of people in the UK don’t consider this to be homelessness. As this crisis worsens, increasing numbers of people are unseen, unheard and overlooked.
Solution
Current narratives around homelessness urgently need to shift. We are a space and a stage where people with experience of homelessness are seen, heard, and valued and can reclaim their narrative. Our 2024 films, More Than One Story, amplified diverse experiences of homelessness, reaching over 150,000 people, changing perceptions and catalysing action. Through our year-round theatre workshops, holistic support, artist development and public performances, we create possibilities for change and the space to tell more than one story about homelessness.
