209,600 will develop dementia this year: that’s one every three minutes. Dementia has been shown to have an enormous impact on quality of life, people living with dementia, and their carers, often lose their connection with others and with their community. They feel isolated, lonely and cut off from their community and have poor mental wellbeing as a result. National dementia strategies recommend proactive self-care and support to make lifestyle changes that will help people adjust/cope better.

Alive will provide accessible support on a local level to help older people living with dementia to understand their changing symptoms, to adjust to the practical and physical changes that dementia brings, and cope better with the social, emotional and mental wellbeing aspects of a dementia diagnosis. The Meeting Centres provide an accessible, friendly and welcoming space for people living with dementia and their carers to meet new people and socialise with others.
