There are only 39 secondary schools compared to 219 primary schools in Samrong province, and enrollment rates drop more than 61% from primary school to secondary school. The lack of education resources and rural poverty lead many children to discontinue their education, often engaging in farming or working across the Thai border. Without a secondary diploma, these children will not have the opportunity to participate in higher education, severely limiting their escape from the circle of poverty.

Opened in 2006, our education centre in Samrong aims to give 70 disadvantaged children the chance to: 1) pursue a secondary or high school degree, which would not be possible without the centre. We provide free courses that supplement regular school which helps to make up for the low-attainment levels 2) prepare for higher education at a university or through vocational training, and 3) shape responsible, well-rounded individuals to become actively involved in, and contribute to society.
