The impact of misinformation is felt by everyone. Disinformation is used to spread hate and deepen divisions. When our politicians and media make and spread false claims, and when misleading information is spread online, we all suffer. The election campaign saw the widespread use of deceptive campaigning tactics and high-profile false claims. Claims on issues like immigration, the environment, and health continue to be used as political ammunition. In this climate, misinformation can thrive.

We fact check politicians, journalists, and viral online content; giving millions of people access to good information. By asking people to correct the record, the spread of bad information is reduced. Keir Starmer has said that public “lack of trust” in politics “can only be healed by actions, not words.” So Full Fact will be monitoring progress against what was promised in exchange for the public's votes. Our Government Tracker will help people understand if the government is delivering.
