Zero Hour (hosted by The Movements Trust) is a movement of 50,000+ people and 1,000 organisations calling for a new law – the Climate and Nature Bill – that will address climate and nature breakdown, and reduce our bills, ease cost of living, clean our air and rivers, and reduce carbon emissions.

Situation
The dual climate and nature crises are accelerating. Temperatures are soaring. Food is vulnerable. Nature is collapsing. And yet, in the UK there is no legal framework that has a joined-up plan to deal with the problem. Our current laws aren’t sufficient to do the job. For example, the Climate Change Act isn’t even up to date with the 1.5°C threshold. The new Government is our last, best chance to fix this but currently has no law fit-for-purpose in place to create the systemic change we need.
Solution
To solve this issue, we are campaigning for an innovative new law called the Climate and Nature Bill. This law takes a science-led, joined-up approach to tackling climate and nature together – whilst delivering many co-benefits. By making this law, we will fulfil Zero Hour’s vision of securing a liveable future for all. Our approach is based on grassroots mobilisation – getting everyday citizens to push politicians to act. It works because MPs respond when they know there is a social mandate.
