A GRIME SUPREME (AGS) is our national music outreach project that explores and creates connections between grime and jazz. The project builds bridges between the two forms of music which are often segregated and disconnected, largely due to economic inequalities as well as artistic differences.

Situation
Cuts to youth services & music education budgets have created a deeper social divide and widened the ‘cultural gap’, emphasising the impact of postcode and financial circumstance. There is a young generation missing the safe spaces they need to build communities and given little chance to realise their creative dreams. ‘Broken window’ syndrome is embedded in the areas that most need help, and the young people that live in them are missing the role models who can help them see what they can be.
Solution
We will use music as the catalyst to engage with disenfranchised young people, away from education and perceived ‘establishment’ organisations, and build local partnerships to deliver relatable and identifiable initiatives, breaking down barriers to participation and inspiring new creative journeys. AGS is a new route to inspiring artistic collaborations, building stronger cultural communities that can overcome the musical, social and cultural barriers experienced by young people today.
