Homelessness in Kent and Medway is a significant issue, exacerbated by the ongoing cost of living crisis. Nationally homelessness has increased by 27% since last year, and this is likely an underestimate as people sleeping in hidden locations such as cars are missed. Some of the challenges people we support face are lack of shelter, poor mental health and social isolation, all leading to a decreased life expectancy of 43 for women & 47 for men. Sadly, these conditions often worsen during winter.

Porchlight offers safety, stability and respect, creating a safety net so that everyone can find the support that’s right for them. Our staff offer immediate crisis support on the streets aiming to find safe and secure accommodation quickly. We then offer the one-to-one support tailored to the individual, providing care, compassion and understanding throughout our supported accommodation, and community services, signposting to our community partners to ensure a fully holistic approach.
