1 in 5 children aged 8 to 16 years were identified as having a probable mental health disorder in 2023 and children and young people have faced immeasurable change and uncertainty in recent years, contributing to an increase of anxiety, sadness and low self-esteem. NHS figures show that the number of children being referred to CAMHS has soared by 76% since 2019 and that over 400,000 children are waiting for a mental health treatment, and nearly 18,000 have been waiting for over a year.

Place2Be's mission is to improve children and young people’s mental health, using tried and tested methods backed by research. We place mental health professionals in schools who work with school communities to provide group and one-to-one counselling to pupils, plus advice and guidance to parents and teachers. Every child should have easy access to the mental health support that they need to prevent life-long mental health issues and gain the resilience and coping skills needed to thrive.
