Situation
All children deserve to thrive but it is challenging for those in care who have their homes, education, & mental health disrupted. Each year 10,000 young people leave the care system & have a harder path into meaningful & lasting employment. For e.g., they are 3x more likely to have experienced disrupted schooling compared to peers. We are the only cultural institution in the UK celebrating care-experienced people & carers, bringing the past & present together to provide creative opportunities.
Solution
Our award-winning arts traineeships build confidence, professional skills and lasting relationships of trust with the care-experienced young people. We devise and deliver leading Creative Traineeships, seasonal Artist Assistant roles, & year-long Museum Assistant Placements. Importantly, whether training or professional opportunities, thanks to generous donations, our programmes for care-experienced young people are all paid, allowing us to properly support the most diverse range of candidates.
