CLAS is seeking to expand its Animal Assisted Therapy Programme, working with a range of people with disabilities, mental health issues, the elderly etc. This has potential to make a huge difference in the community however more funding is needed for associated costs to continue this valuable work

Situation
Mental health issues and loneliness have become a prevalent issue across the UK. A recent study found that one in five people in NI reported feeling lonely always or often. There is a clear need for strategies to tackle this and for more opportunities to be put in place for people to connect. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) has been proven to enhance mood and increase a sense of wellbeing thereby helping tackle these issues. CLAS needs more funds to expand this and really make a difference.
Solution
By raising more funds to ensure costs are met for the following: - A salary (if volunteer route exhausted) for someone to lead and expand the AAT programme, with view of growing it enough to make this self sufficient/funding in the long term. - Refreshments, cleaning products and equipment for AAT events. - Repairs and improvements around the sanctuary so there are more safe and accessible areas for groups to work with the animals. - Other running costs e.g. feed, vet bills etc
