It's vital for people with learning disabilities to develop their abilities to speak up. In peer groups, or with a professional advocate, they can learn new skills. Our citizens can change their lives and create societal shifts. With your support we'll create more self-advocates and change society.

Situation
People with learning disabilities are one of the four most disadvantaged groups in all of society. They are often financially excluded, socially marginalised, discriminated against, experiencing the widest health inequality of any group, and now struggling to deal with the worst cost of living crisis in recent memory. They face complex and longstanding problems, which require a holistic approach to solving them. Without an advocate who will help them, their problems can seem insurmountable.
Solution
Our advocates ensure people with a learning disability understand their options, have their voice listened to when they express their opinions, and know their rights. By doing this, we give them a better chance of getting a good outcome. By training them as self-advocates, we help people with learning disabilities to feel more in control of their life and less isolated. They feel they make a difference by fighting against discrimination and working together to promote learning disability rights.
