Many people face societal barriers to getting into cycling. Whether refugee on a limited stipend, prisoner on recent release, or woman facing cultural barriers – our aim is to make the benefits of cycling possible for those who need it most. As the cost-of-living crisis continues, many of these groups are left out of pocket, with poor mental health and limited mobility to get to places of support. This can be a barrier to gaining employment, exercise and escaping transport poverty.

We run a variety of courses, activities and bursaries that break down these barriers. This includes cycle lessons, a free bike scheme for those on low income, and employable mechanic training. For many groups, access to cycling is transformative. With a bike in hand, the distance of travel that's affordable multiplies. This is often essential for travel to employment and other vital attendances. Our bike mechanic course also provides pathways into work for those facing employment barriers.
