The Life Project (LP) is a small local charity rooted in Christian values and ethos, dedicated to promoting & protecting the health & wellbeing of adults with Learning Disabilities (LD) & their families of all faiths & none. We are at capacity and there is demand for additional sessions.

Government cuts have led to a serious reduction in places available to LD adults when they leave formal education. The wide-ranging challenges facing this vulnerable group include: poverty, loneliness, associated mental health problems, unemployment, personal safety, and inclusion. This in turn contributes to similar issues for their carers. The LP is one of a few charities in Bath running day services for adults with LD but could do much more with the right support as our services are capacity.

We are looking to extend our provision by opening an additional session each week to meet the needs of more people with LD. Service users (known to us as Makers) are encouraged to share responsibilities, make decisions & discover what they can achieve in a safe and supportive community. As well as developing skills, Makers also grow in confidence and have improved well-being through engagement in our allotment, cooking, arts, and more. Whilst Makers are with us, carers benefit from respite time.
