For some of our patients, this will be their last Christmas. Katharine House helps people across the community 365 days a year, but over the festive season, we go above and beyond to make the hospice feel special for our patients and their families and friends. Situation
The rising living costs, increased demand for services, and tough fundraising conditions have made it harder to fund our specialist day-to-day services. Christmas is such a special time of year for so many. We want to raise as much money as possible to support our incredible teams who look after our patients over the Christmas period and beyond. Last December, 31 people were admitted to the inpatient ward and 62 people had end of life care by our Community nursing team. Sadly, we can’t fix a diagnosis, but we can provide vital specialist support at the most difficult time.
Solution
Katharine House Hospice will care for patients and their loved ones over the festive period and beyond, whether they are in the hospice, the community, and the local hospitals. Funding pays for home-cooked meals on our ward, visits from specialist doctors or nurses to patients in their homes or go towards funding our Living Well service, helping enable people with incurable illnesses to live an independent, comfortable life.
