Since 2022 WOW has grown its youth participation programme six fold, increasing the number of beneficiaries from 538 to 3,331, expanding reach across the UK and more than doubling our partnerships with schools and grassroots youth and community groups. We need your support to sustain this work.

Situation
A majority of girls in the UK are routinely experiencing sexism and other forms of discrimination in their everyday lives - for example, 69% of 11-16s say they have experienced toxic comments made about women and girls. Routine misogyny impacts girls’ confidence and self-esteem at just the age when they start setting aspirations for their futures - 89% aged 7-21 say they feel generally worried or anxious. These problems are exacerbated for marginalised girls who face multiple disadvantages.
Solution
WOW’s Young People’s Producer works with young people of all genders on creative programmes which are girl-led, which celebrate girls' interests and leadership, which spotlight and challenge gender inequity, and build optimism around their ability to make change happen. 95% of partners in 2023/24 say our programmes built confidence and self expression, and 61% told us that all or most of their participating young people reflect characteristics associated with disadvantage or marginalisation.
