At least 1 in 5 women/birthing people suffer from mental health problems during and after pregnancy. There’s a huge gap in awareness and understanding of mental health in this period and new parents can suffer unnecessarily. We can close this gap by providing a source of credible information.

The most common major health complication of during and after pregnancy is depression. When women hear stories from others experiencing mental health difficulties during this time, it can feel like a lifeline. Women often wish they had known more and had got help earlier. Raising awareness and tackling stigma with credible and accessible information can help prevent suffering and even save lives now and in the future. The potential impact of early intervention is huge.

There is a huge and unnecessary gap in awareness of perinatal mental health, in part driven by the lack of reliable and clinically sound information, supported by experiences and stories with real life experience. Engaging directly with new parents and the people around them is an exciting next step in our strategy to provide support through a credible and easy to understand one-stop shop for what parents (and those around them) need to know about mental health during and after pregnancy.
