Prostate cancer often spreads to the bone and once it does, it can be terminal. Treatments for advanced prostate cancer are urgently needed and could significantly improve quality of life and survival rates. We support new and exciting research to stop the spread to bones and save lives.

When prostate cancer spreads to bone (i.e., bone metastasis), it can cause high levels of pain and fractures, significantly reducing an individual’s chance of survival and their quality of life. Only 33% of men with bone metastasis will still be alive after five years and about 80% of men who die from prostate cancer will have secondary tumours in bone.

We aim to fund £600,000 worth of research to prevent and reverse cancer spreading to bone and improve patient outcomes and quality of life. Partnering with Breast Cancer Now, we’ll create a Bone Metastasis Collaboration Fund, uniting experts from various cancer charities to address bone metastasis in both prostate and breast cancer patients. Our multi-tumour approach will combine resources and expertise, leveraging collective knowledge and efforts to better understand and address bone metastasis
