Lichfield Cathedral has a stunning collection of stained glass, dating from medieval period to the early twentieth century. Two of the windows in the Cathedral's north quire aisle, made by leading Victorian stained glass artists require urgent attention to reverse rusting to the window tracery.

Situation
We need to remove polycarbonate sheeting, installed in the 1980 for protection, from two stained glass windows in the Cathedral's north quire aisle, including a magnificent window by Charles Kempe, depicting King David instructing the musicians (1895). The sheeting is now cracking, and has been found to cause condensation, leading to rusting of the tracery, putting these windows at risk.
Solution
We will remove the old polycarbonate sheeting from the windows and clean the build-up of dust and debris around the windows, clean the window tracery and make necessary repairs. Finally, we will install new isothermal glazing and mesh to protect the windows on the outside, and which will better regulate the temperature inside.
