Create Music provides high-quality music education across East Sussex. We are raising more funds this year to give bursaries to children from low-income families at a time of growing demand and costs. Our vision is a future where children are transformed by music and opportunities without barriers.

Music can transform lives, but for 1 in 5 of the children we teach, costs are a barrier to music education – and with rising living costs we are seeing an increase in demand for bursaries. Additionally, although our fees have remained fixed for 5 years, from September 2024 our fees will increase due to the higher costs of running our music service. As costs increase, so too does the need for support for our learners. Our bursaries will help enable access to music education for all.

We offer music education bursaries to children who face barriers to music-making. This year we want to offer 900 bursaries, +6% on last year. Music is a vital part of each child’s life. Current and past music bursary students tell us that music nurtures confidence and skills that support social and emotional wellbeing. We want to make music accessible; we also run inclusive ensembles to alleviate barriers. Bursaries remove financial barriers and facilitate engagement in enriching activities.
