We are raising funds for our youth club’s food and fitness initiative, providing stepping stones for a healthier lifestyle for at risk young people through healthy hot meals and sports sessions. We are raising money to ensure a safe social space that facilitates healthier living for those at risk.

Situation
Since 2010, youth services have been cut by over 77% or £1 billion and have been disproportionately affected by austerity cuts, as a result there is a distinct lack of youth facilities in Wandsworth. The life expectancy for young people living on estates in Roehampton is 10 years lower than the borough average due to a lack of access to healthy living opportunities. As one of the sole youth spaces in Wandsworth we are breaking down barriers at risk people face improving their quality of life.
Solution
There is a clear association between participation in youth provision and positive outcomes relating to physical health and wellbeing and pro-social behaviours and so, we are providing a safe social space, food and activities that will facilitate healthier lifestyles for at risk young people. We provide healthy hot meals four times a week and provide free sports sessions with a trainer four times a week to encourage positive, healthy behaviours physically and mentally for these young people.
