When our beneficiaries first come to Edward’s Trust, they have high levels of anxiety, they feel very isolated and feel they can’t talk to anyone and have low wellbeing. Mental health problems can be caused by or exacerbated by bereavement, and prolonged grief can include “significant emotional distress and changes to a person's level of functioning”. Research studies have shown higher incidences of physical and mental health problems among those that are bereaved.

We provide an early advice line at the point of contact. Counselling and/or wellbeing is tailored to the person’s own individual needs based on a 2-stage assessment. We help people express their feelings and grief; remember their loved one in a meaningful way and develop positive coping strategies that can be used in all areas of their life.
