Support the music of Portsmouth Cathedral as we head towards our Centenary year and aim to perform more, train more young musicians in the choral tradition, reach more people in the community through our music outreach programme, and employ talented professional musicians to develop their craft.

The decline of choral singing and music education in the English Choral Tradition which has been fuelled by the decline of music education and lack of focus on cultural capital in state schools in the past 10+ years. University and other adult choirs have reported in recent years the decline of applicant singers and despite the popularity of community choral singing, the centuries-old tradition from which they sprang is not a focus in communities, schools, or central funding.

All under our renewed 'Sing Joyfully' - by investing in the work of Portsmouth Cathedral's music department to give regular singing lessons, group rehearsals and performance opportunities to 50+ children from Portsmouth, a highly deprived island city. By continuing to offer gap-year employment opportunities to young adult musicians in teaching voice and the organ. By expanding our music outreach programme in schools and communities across South-East Hampshire, Portsmouth, and the Isle of Wight.
