Our excellent end of life care is free of charge to people in Harrow and Brent. On average, it costs £634 per day to support one person in our Inpatient Unit. Your donations will help fund our compassionate nursing team to support people in their final days by providing palliative or respite care.

Situation
Demand for our 12 bedded Inpatient Unit is increasing. In 2023/24 admissions went up 26%. This increase in need is driven by an ageing population and will result in more people requiring palliative care due to living with life limiting illnesses. Costs to deliver our compassionate and caring services have greatly increased – wages, food, gas and electricity and medicine. Our generous donors continue to support us; however, we are currently spending more on care than we receive in income.
Solution
We will review our expenditure to ensure all essential costs to run the Inpatient Unit represent best value for money, without compromising services. Our nursing teams will continue to effectively review admissions to ensure those with greatest needs are admitted and through efficient management of patients’ symptoms to achieve optimal length of stay. We will reach out to new and previous supporters through campaigns such as the Big Give where matching of donations encourages more donations.
