Situation
97% of Oxfordshire’s amazing variety of grasslands including species-rich chalk and limestone grasslands, floodplain meadows, and patches of acid grassland has been lost. We need to reverse this decline and connect the remaining areas of grasslands to ensure our wellbeing and survival. Many people want to help, and they have the potential to create and manage more biodiverse grasslands, but they lack knowledge and confidence of where to start
Solution
With the right support, people can create and manage more biodiverse grasslands in local green spaces, verges, gardens, and churchyards. Healthy grasslands support a wide variety of species including pollinators, plants, and small mammals, and provide mental and physical benefits for people. We will support local groups with: • Advice on how to create and manage grasslands • How to identify, record, and monitor grassland species. • Links to funders • Events for networking, learning & support
