2024 marks 50 years since Women's Aid was founded. Whilst there has been a lot of positive change, the reality for thousands of women is far from safe. We don't want to reach our 100 year anniversary. Therefore, money raised in this campaign will underpin our core work to eradicate domestic abuse.

Domestic abuse (DA) is at epidemic levels in the UK, and it is not going away. Figures from the ONS show that a heart-breaking 1 in 4 women experience DA in their lifetimes. Current systems seeking to tackle DA are failing; only 1 in 5 survivors report their experiences to police and lifesaving services are overstretched and under-resourced. On average, one woman is killed a week by their partner or former partner in England and Wales. It is truly a life and death issue.

Women’s Aid’s campaigning, policy and research work seeks to raise awareness of the realities facing survivors and their children and secure critical changes to the response to domestic abuse from government, statutory agencies and wider society. We amplify the voices of survivors, using lived experience to transform responses to domestic abuse, including in our own lifesaving Direct Services, such as our Live Chat Helpline.
