At Safe Families we believe that no one should feel alone. We continue to support isolated families across the UK to improve outcomes for some of the most isolated and disadvantaged children. To do this, we are expanding into new areas, including new London Boroughs.

Situation
Families can face crisis moments such as unemployment, substance misuse, debt, illness, or family breakdown. The risks can accumulate & some parents can struggle to provide a safe & caring environment for their children. These difficulties are elevated if the parent/carer is isolated. This can put children at risk and without the timely provision of respite, companionship and practical help these situations can, and frequently do, result in public systems having to intervene.
Solution
Our community-based model has reduced the number of children entering local authority care between 8-16%. We connect families with local volunteers to help families achieve their own goals. So far, this model has supported 10,053 families, with 23,266 children benefitting from the support of our 5,000+ volunteers from 45+ referral partners. Volunteers support in 3 ways: Family Friends (befriending), Host Families (respite hosting), and Resource Friends (practical support).
