Situation
We’re addressing the critical shortage of vegetarian and vegan options for people in food poverty; this leaves many people unable to enjoy a nutritious, sustainable, ethical Christmas dinner. Food insecurity has risen due to sharp increases in food costs and 12% of people in the North West were in food insecure households in 2022/23. Community Centres often lack plant based provisions, impacting dietary needs and ethical preferences, and exacerbating food poverty and exclusion during the festive season.
Solution
There are veggie/vegan gaps in most frontline food provision for people in crisis. We will provide 125 veggie/vegan Christmas dinners by partnering with Community Centres in Manchester, utilising their kitchens. Our approach ensures nutritious, ethical meals can be served at Christmas, addressing food poverty and promoting sustainability in line with our mission. Our mission is to transform lives, protect animals, and save our planet for future generations.
