Suitcase Theatre is a programme of small-scale, co-created performances specifically designed to reach audiences who would otherwise be unable to visit our venues. These audiences include care home residents, refugee families, critically ill children and the children of incarcerated adults.

Situation
Many people, unfortunately, cannot access the theatre due to social, economic, or geographical barriers. These people are often marginalised groups who would particularly benefit from experiencing the magic of live performance. However, due to their challenging circumstances, they miss out. These audiences often struggle with social isolation and a lack of community integration. LAT’s travelling ‘suitcase theatre’ counteracts this and promote access to live performance for all.
Solution
Suitcase Theatre supports isolated groups by offering travelling performances that are co-created with and performed to their marginalised audiences, completely free of charge. We work closely with a focus group to make sure our content is appropriate and addresses the most important issues audiences face. We also ensure that the theatre set is moveable and appropriate for the space where the audience resides, including children's hospitals, schools, older peoples homes and prison spaces.
