It’s a tragedy that this Christmas there will be people sleeping out on the streets. It is a national scandal that this is still happening and a public health emergency. We are committed to ending street homelessness by working with people who are, or at risk, of homelessness.

Homeless figures in London are the worst we have seen for decades and the lack of affordable rents and social housing continues to create instability putting many people at risk of losing their home. We have seen a shocking increase in the number of people using our service. At the last street count 4,118 people were sleeping rough - 49% of whom were sleeping rough for the first time. There has also been a worrying rise in rough sleeping in the 18 - 25 year age group.

At The Passage we act with compassion and urgency. Intervening before they reach crisis point. We aim to help people into accommodation, so people never have to spend one night on the streets. This preventative action protects people from the risks that rough sleeping poses to a person’s mental and physical health. For those that do experience street homelessness, we aim to move people into accommodation quickly and provide a holistic service that provides a safe route home.
