We believe that each person matters, that everyone deserves a safe home and to feel joy at Christmas time. Yet this Christmas, 3,800 children from Westminster will wake up homeless in temporary accommodation, where hope and the possibility of a brighter future may feel painfully out of reach.

Situation
Many homeless families are forced to live in spaces without kitchens, eating on the floor or bed. Banaz, her husband, and two sons fled Iraq three years ago due to political unrest. In London, they endured over two years isolated, in a cramped hotel with poor food and limited space. Banaz worried about her sons, saying, “My sons did not like staying in the hotel and were sad every day.” Such conditions harm wellbeing and can have lasting, traumatic effects on a child’s life.
Solution
We enable young people, children and families like Banaz’s to overcome poverty and avoid homelessness. We provide a home and support for young people, offer assistance and learning to children and families at risk, provide housing, welfare and immigration advice to help people secure a safe home, mentor people to help them find work, training and develop new skills. We work to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty and reduce its cost into later life.
