Our Singing Takeover projects bring the benefits of regular singing sessions to primary aged children. Singing has been shown to instil confidence and teamwork into classrooms, to improve learning outcomes, support well-being, and most of all, to bring a sense of joy into lessons.

Situation
With very few primary schools employing a specialist music teacher to teach classroom music and lead singing in school, music provision is often left to generalist classroom teachers who have very little training in teaching music and, as a consequence, find delivering music daunting.
Solution
We focus on schools where there is deprivation – maybe a high percentage of the children are eligible for free school meals or English is not their first language – and a lack of music provision. We partner with local authorities and other organisations, other music charities, individual schools and academy trusts. We work with them to deliver our projects to children who need them most.
