We want to make people’s experience of temporary accommodation (TA) short, safe and healthy. No one should face homelessness alone but more than 112k households are stuck in TA with no understanding of their rights, no knowledge of their housing options, and no way out of homelessness.

There are over 112K households experiencing homelessness in TA in our country. Many people live in terrible conditions: there may be no lock on their door, squalid bathroom facilities or lack of bedding. People living in TA experience deteriorating mental and physical health, anxiety, escalating substance use, social isolation, and an increased risk of premature death. The lack of available permanent housing means that people’s stays in TA are not short, safe, or healthy.

We provide one-to-one healthcare, housing and wellbeing support for people living in TA. The people we work with are homeless and need professional support to improve their chances of securing and sustaining a permanent home. Without support, many are at risk of falling into rough sleeping or worse. Alongside our support work, we have a Research and Policy Team working to improve experiences of TA nationally, identifying and advocating for much needed long term solutions to homelessness.
