The Birmingham Rep Theatre is asking you to help our D/deaf and hard of hearing patrons to access the theatre and adult drama clubs. You’ll be supporting people who otherwise would not be able to experience the magic of theatre and drama across Birmingham. Here at The Rep no one should be left behind.

One of our 2 main auditoria’s (The Door) used for performances is currently without caption screens which helps hard of hearing audiences experience our shows. This means that shows we stage at The Door, predominantly family friendly show favourites like The Snowman and much more, are inaccessible for the D/deaf community. Moreover, support is also required to open out our work behind the scenes - our weekly adult drama classes are on hold as we do not have the budget for BSL interpreters.

We ask for your support to fund 2 mini caption screens as well as 2 BSL interpreters for both our productions and community engagement work. This will help hard of hearing audiences enjoy up to 126 performances each year from our classics to our independent shows. Your donations will also enable The Rep to hire 2 BSL interpreters for an entire year to support our D/deaf participants in our adult drama clubs, which gives them a taste of the theatre experience on stage!
