“There are few worse places, if any, to be a child”, Grant Leaity, UNICEF, 2023. War in the eastern DRC has forced tens of thousands of families to flee their homes in search of safety in the city of Goma. Refugee camps lack basic facilities and remain vulnerable to attacks from militants. This is just one example of the kind of setting Chance for Childhood is working in to provide an education to some of the most marginalised children in the world, including girls and those with disabilities.

Education is the great leveller. In times of crisis and war, a classroom is one of the only safe places for a child. We are experts in providing safe spaces inclusive education to marginalised children in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our commitment to shifting power to local communities means we co-design the best solutions to meet the complex needs of hard-to-reach children. By adopting an inclusive, intersectional approach, we create sustainable and meaningful change for children.
