The ongoing downgrading of arts in education, the inequality of access to vocational training and a lack of representation, means that less than 20% of the UK creative industries workforce come from a working-class background. This absence of opportunity impacts individuals’ career choices, denies the sector voices and perspectives that are vital to the health of theatre and prevents an inclusive, socially mobile arts ecology.

Ignition embodies the ethos of Frantic Assembly; providing authentic, accessible opportunities for young people from traditionally excluded backgrounds to access the arts, to build and sustain careers. Since 2008 Ignition has repeatedly demonstrated the transformative impact it has on individuals and the sector. It provides a nurturing and supportive environment and an annual programme of workshops, training and mentoring designed to engage, inspire and promote aspiration.
