Since 2010 take up of Arts subjects at GCSE level has declined by 47%. Waiting lists for young people to access mental health services in North Yorks are at an all-time high. Against this national picture, it is vital that there are affordable, high-quality opportunities to explore and develop creativity outside of school. Harrogate Theatre is passionate about nurturing young people to be creative individuals with transferable skills that can support them to thrive throughout their lives.

Our meaningful youth theatre work harnesses the power of theatre to develop imaginations so children and young people can develop self-esteem, the power of creative thinking and team-work. In Harrogate Theatre’s 125th year we aim to support more young people to take part in our youth theatre to reap the benefits of making new connections, learning more about the world around them and creating joyful memories through participating in live performance.
