Situation
The young people at Chailey Heritage Foundation have very complex needs. Most of the children can’t communicate verbally, most use wheelchairs and many have a sensory impairment. Their abilities are often hidden, and staff develop creative ways to unlock them and deliver “lightbulb” moments in their understanding and communication. The Immersive Space can unlock, what can appear to be very basic communication, however for a child to be able to express that they are in pain, it is life changing.
Solution
The Immersive Space delivers distinct therapeutic, educational and clinical benefits that make it invaluable in helping the young people pursue their potential. It provides a stimulating and engaging multi-sensory experience that encourages them to achieve their personal ‘next steps’. This could be developing eye movements to enable communication, taking their first physical steps or expressing their likes or dislikes. By donating towards The Immersive Space, you are helping to change lives.
