No child should face hospital without their family by their side. The Sick Children’s Trust provides a welcoming ‘Home from Home’ where families with a sick child in hospital can stay. But we’re more than just bricks and mortar, our caring staff support families while their child receives treatment.

A child falling critically ill and being suddenly admitted to hospital is a terrifying experience for families, especially at Christmas. Staying close to their sick child’s bedside is their priority, but many families are forced to travel long distances, sleep in uncomfortable hospital chairs or pay for expensive hotels that they cannot afford. It is a distressing time for children and their families, who want and should be together.

We provide vital ‘Homes from Home’ where families with a sick child in hospital can stay, free of charge, just minutes from their child’s bedside. At an overwhelming and difficult time, we offer families the support they need to face the day ahead. They can have a hot shower and a comfortable bed to rest, and our caring staff are there to listen when they need it. Not only do we alleviate some financial worries, but we also help the mental wellbeing of the families we support.
