Parasitic worm diseases damage the lives of 13 million children and adults in Malawi. These diseases can be eliminated if treatment and other disease prevention measures reach all who need them. We will support Malawi to identify everyone at risk and make possible the end of parasitic disease.

Treatment campaigns have successfully reduced the global impact of parasitic worm disease, but the health burden remains huge. Bringing an end to these debilitating diseases means reaching everyone at risk and ensuring they get access to treatment and other disease-ending necessities, such as safer water. Using an affordable way to identify exactly who is at risk in every part of the country, Malawi could make sure no one missed out, and bring the end of parasitic diseases within reach.

We will support the Malawi Ministry of Health (MoH) to implement a more cost-effective and accurate method for identifying, with precision, where people are at risk of parasitic worm disease. The project will enable the targeting of treatment and other critical interventions to everyone who needs them, allowing concentration of resources where they can have the greatest impact on people’s health and bringing disease elimination closer.
