BWC urgently needs to raise funds to ensure we can continue to provide specialist support for self-identifying women with a range of severe and complex issues who are struggling with the impact of trauma on their lives. Funding would enable BWC to meet the increased demand on services at this time.

We support women facing complex issues often linked to or heightened by poverty, including women who are homeless or insecurely housed, involved in the criminal justice system, survivors of domestic and/or sexual abuse & those with physical and/or mental health conditions. We've seen a surge in demand for our services during the cost-of-living crisis - including a 23% increase last year. Our services are under immense pressure to meet the growing demand from women who desperately need our help.

BWC has been providing 1-1 support for women for 50 years. We provide safe, accessible, women-only community spaces across Sussex. We help women with low-cost counselling, accommodation, health and well-being, finances, childcare and social connections. Experienced caseworkers take a holistic and trauma-informed approach to understand each woman’s circumstances; including traumatic experiences that may have impacted her life, and help her address the (often multiple) issues she is facing.
