We are raising money for riser recliner chairs for our patient rooms. Being confined to bed by life limiting illness is not what anyone would choose. To maximise patient wellbeing we want every room to have a supportive seating option for sitting or reclining.

Many of our patients are disabled by their illness. They may be frail and have limited mobility or be unable to move themselves independently. This increases the risk of pressure related tissue damage; it can make life feel limited with a narrow vista (i.e. from a patients bed) and can undermine physical and mental wellbeing if patients are feeling constrained and confined to bed.

Our hospice staff provide excellent nursing care to alleviate the problems above but a quality riser recliner chair can make a great contribution to a patients care and a family's journey. It provides a different view point than from bed and supports frail bodies to sit up or recline comfortably in different positions. Family members spend long hours with loved ones near end of life and the recliner chairs can also be used for sleeping on, making a difficult time physically more comfortable.
