YATI's StageDoor programme is our funded places initiative, allowing those facing financial barriers access to a year's worth of performing arts classes for free which they otherwise could not afford, giving them the opportunity to increase in confidence, creativity, and self-expression.

Situation
The average annual cost of participating in extracurricular drama programmes in the UK can exceed £1,200, with additional expenses for materials, costumes, and travel. Islington has the 10th highest level of income deprivation affecting children, a significant portion live below the poverty line where access to creative opportunities is often limited. This lack of access contributes to poor employment, mental health and well-being outcomes among young people, perpetuating cycles of deprivation.
Solution
As part of our mission to break down barriers to access, YATI offers the StageDoor programme. This initiative aims to address the deprivation and financial barriers young people in Islington face. We recognise the need for fully funded places, allowing those at risk of exclusion the chance to receive the benefits of creative opportunities.
