Our mission is to get children in school, ready to learn, whatever the cost. For the last 40 years School-Home Support has sought to tackle growing school absences nationwide by addressing the barriers that prevent so many children from accessing their education and the benefits that come with it.

Situation
In 2022/23, 21.2% of pupils across England were persistently absent, meaning they missed 10% or more of school. This equates to 1.6 million children missing too much of their education. This is significantly higher than the 6 years prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, which ranged between 4.5% and 4.8%. With attendance being strongly linked to academic achievement at GCSEs, children who are unable to attend school are not only missing out on their education, but future life chances as well.
Solution
The barriers that prevent children from accessing their education are numerous and diverse. Poverty, poor physical and mental health, and inadequate housing are among the many issues that prevent children from attending school. For this reason, School-Home Support offers bespoke, whole family support to children and families through our practitioners, addressing the root causes of children's non-attendance to ensure significant and sustainable differences to their immediate and future lives.
