While in hospital, patients with spinal cord injuries receive a lot of crucial information on topics like accessible housing, personal care & specialist equipment. This can be overwhelming, making it hard to absorb all the essential advice to enable them to live an independent life. With shorter rehab times & limited NHS resources, patients often leave hospital unprepared, leading to complications like pressure sores or UTIs & frequent readmissions as they struggle to manage their condition.

Aspire’s Independent Living Advisors all have a Spinal Cord Injury & support newly injured patients across 10 Spinal Injury Centres in the UK to navigate the vital information they receive during rehab. Drawing on their experience & specialist training, they address various concerns from health plans & welfare benefits to travelling abroad in a wheelchair; nothing is off limits. The Advisors can offer practical advice, support & referrals to other Aspire services or external organisations.
