Situation
We know the particular disruption that Covid caused to relationships between young and older people. Prevented from meeting socially and educationally, people lost understanding of and trust in other generations, exacerbating society-wide loneliness and mental health crises. We work in Tower Hamlets where 1 in 2 young people and 1 in 3 older people live in poverty. 1 in 5 people move in and out of the borough every year, making neighbourly relationships even harder to sustain.
Solution
We will rebuild these intergenerational relationships through our pioneering arts work. Older & younger people will work alongside artists on high quality projects including visual arts and photography activities to create new work that brings joy, encourages interaction & understanding, breaks down barriers, increases well-being and builds stronger, safer communities. These projects will enable older & younger people to discover their own creative solutions to the problems they share & face.
