As a community arts venue, our ambition is to break down barriers to accessing the arts. With your help, we'll open up music projects we run to more children in Lewisham & Greenwich, engaging them in workshops in schools, taking live events out into the community & promoting our Take Part Programme.

Arts subjects in schools are in decline & access to the arts is increasingly unaffordable for many. This is detrimental to people’s mental health, well-being & sense of belonging. It's vital that as a community arts venue, we provide creative opportunities for people of all ages & backgrounds. With increasing participant demand & rising costs for our annual Take Part programme in opera, gospel, choral singing & music-making, we need your support more than ever to continue this work.

We build partnerships with local hard-to-reach schools through a variety of participatory workshops in collaboration with local Music Hubs to help breakdown barriers to accessing the arts. This ensures that the young people who benefit from & access our opera, gospel & choir projects are from all backgrounds. We want to encourage these children to participate in larger choir, singing & music-making opportunities at Blackheath Halls (e.g. our all-year-round Youth Choir & annual community opera).
