This campaign has now closed
The Mulberry Bush is a special, residential primary school for emotionally traumatised children. They have been neglected and abused, with a string of failed home and school placements. We have just opened a second 52-week house and want to provide fun activities in both this and the adjoining garden.

Situation
Nationally, there is increasing demand for year-round residential, therapeutic provision. The Burrow and now The Coach House take these children who are desperately in need of a loving home where they can make friends and have fun when not in the School. They come to us feeling frightened and unlovable, resulting in mistrust, low self-esteem and extreme behaviour.Whilst the interiors are complete, the outside spaces need to be safe and child-friendly,with activities they can enjoy alone or in groups.
Solution
We will install play equipment and raised planting beds for gardening activities. We will replace the high permanent fence between the 2 gardens with a low picket fence with gate so both gardens can link when appropriate. We will purchase other items such as bikes and go-karts,together with additional secure storage areas.Funds left over will be used for other outdoor equipment and activities across the school and could also include external outdoor activities eg Camping and Outward Bound Weeks.
