Women's Support Centre helps women dealing with abuse, discrimination, trauma, homelessness, financial difficulties and those navigating the criminal justice system. This year the centre had to stop their Generic service due to lack of funds. The Generic service helped introduce women to the centre, build their trust, help them open up and be ready to start counselling, art therapy or working in groups. It was an important step for many women who experienced recent trauma to start recovery.

We would like to re-start the Generic service with the funding we hope to raise from this campaign. This vital step will ensure we have the time to listen to the women in most need of support. After experiencing trauma, women will get more 1:1 time with the support worker to help uncover all the circumstances and challenges they face, and be able to offer them a manageable recovery plan as well as give them confidence to follow it through.
