Children and their mothers fleeing domestic abuse find safety at Hestia's refuges, often arriving with what they could carry. For many, this is their first ever Christmas feeling safe from harm. The festive period can be an especially difficult time, triggering painful memories, and for mothers, feelings of guilt for struggling to afford food and gifts.
With your generous support, we will go beyond providing safety and bring joy back to children's lives who are starting their recovery journeys at Hestia's domestic abuse refuges this Christmas. From a warm welcome and toy when they arrive to the refuge, to homework clubs, 1-2-1 sessions and festive activities, our children and family work programme is designed to help children heal from their trauma, offer a joyful Christmas and hope for the future.
