‘...the school’s extra-curricular music activities… are essential for music to thrive in schools’ Ofsted 2024 Music Report. Music benefits a child’s language, memory, emotional & social skills. The National Curriculum requires pupils to be taught to sing, compose from aural memory, perform, listen attentively, recall sounds, compose, experience music traditions and great composers, and learn about the history of music. Ofsted confirms this is missing or poor in many state primary schools.

Workshops to build children’s confidence & ability to sing & express themselves, nurture young talents & support class teachers’ experience in music. 250(stage size) 8-13 years in 5 Herefordshire schools in areas of most need receive 6 x 60 min singing & music workshops by a professional music teacher. Teach music traditions inspired by local folksong, eg VaughanWilliams, & poets eg Ledbury Poets. Children can co-create their own song with support, & to perform together. NEW choir follows up.
